Cargo securing in road transportation
Cargo is secured through blocking, immobilization, and lashing, in accordance with the guidelines outlined in our Load Securing Manual. More detailed information can also be found in the European Best Practices, a publication by the EU written by a group of experts from member states and the industry.

Examples of products used in road transportation
There are many types of products used to secure loads. Below are a few examples—click on a product to learn more about it.
Lashing Straps
Lashing straps are the most commonly used product for cargo securing. They are lighter than more advanced systems and easier to handle and store. Our straps comply with EU cargo securing standard EN 12195.
Corner Protectors, Chocks & Strap Sleeves
Sometimes, the cargo itself can be vulnerable to damage caused even by the securing strap. In such cases, corner protectors and strap sleeves help increase the contact area and distribute tension evenly. During loading or unloading, wheel chocks also provide support by preventing vehicle or trailer rollaway.
Lashing Chains
A stronger alternative to lashing straps, lashing chains—also called transport chains or chain tie-downs—are made from high-grade steel and are used for securing particularly heavy loads. Each chain system comes with a user manual and a certificate of conformity.
A solution worth highlighting!
Multi-Stick is a multifunctional tool for drivers, designed to improve safety and ergonomics during load securing—without needing to climb onto the truck. Its innovation lies in offering three functions in one tool:
-
Standard Tip – for pulling vehicle cargo bars and placing corner protectors once the load is already on the vehicle.
-
Strap&Go Tip – for accurately throwing the strap over the cargo to ensure proper positioning.
-
Corner Stick Tip – for easily placing long corner protectors to shield sharp edges.
The telescopic pole extends from 1000 to 2400 mm, is user-friendly, and comes with a quick-release mechanism to easily switch between tool heads.
Cargo Bars and Load Locking Poles
Forankra offers cargo bars used primarily for load blocking in transport. They are widely used in vans, delivery vehicles, and trucks. There are two main types:
-
Cargo bars with rubber feet – designed for vans with rigid walls. It’s important to select the correct length to avoid roof damage.
-
Cargo bars with fittings for tracks – used exclusively in vehicles equipped with cargo securing rails.
Forankra also offers a wide range of cargo securing tracks. More information about our bars and beams can be found on our dedicated product page.
